What do you when two of your best friends turn their back on you?
One glories in your pain and the other just gives up on you
Were they really my best friends I asked myself
The answer was "No" I don't think they were
Then I heard another friend who I barely talk to say
A good friend is better than a close friend
Another good word of advice from a trusted mentor
Was choose wisely who you choose to tell what
These were excellent for my brain to think about
Then I thought maybe these people are still my "best" friends
But maybe I need to re-evalutate who my "good" friends are
And thus I did,
For the past few months I've really come to the realization
Of who my "good" friends are
And although we don't hang out, talk or laugh as much as I would
With what some people call the "besties"
I know these friends are and will be there for me through thick and thin
I know I can come to them when I feel like the world is crashing down on me
I know I can come to them if I want to know the truth,
Even if its not what I want to hear
I thank God for placing these few "GREAT" friends in my life
I couldn't make it without our challenging relationships
And as for my "besties" this you will stay
Because like trip lee said in his new album "Between Two Wolds" (you should go listen!!!)
Friendships ain't nothing easy so I'ma bear with you baby!
I definitely spent a few days crying, excuse me sobbing
About how mean and cruel they were to me
When all I was trying to do was be a "good" friend
But sometimes being a "good" friend can hurt both sides
For me I have to realize that I have to make a sacrifice of emotions
Because in order to be a "good" friend I'm going to have to challenge them
People don't always want challenge or truth so sometimes it hurts them
So you have to be prepared
To sacrifice your pride and feelings if they retaliate with hurt
Because you will be hurt, Jesus was hurt by His "best" friends
He was betrayed... but yet he still died for them!!!
So I say I can take betrayal because my God took it
And I can take it with joy
Because not only can I do all things who Christ who strengthens me
But the Joy of the Lord is my strength and I'm trying to be like CHRIST!
